The What White People Can Do About Racism (WWPCDAR) workshop series is based on the following core belief:
United States society is historically and presently structured by race. White people have a privileged position within that structure. Many white people understand this implicitly and are uncomfortable with the inherent unfairness, but do not know what to do about it.
The WWPCDAR series is designed to address this need and provide a continuing path for skills development, enhanced knowledge and heightened awareness.
The curriculum consists of a gateway course, 101 - Fundamentals, Part 1, followed by a second course, 201 - Fundamentals, Part 2. We are developing additional courses that explore special topics with greater focus and depth.
WHO SHOULD ENROLL?
The workshop series is intended for:
• White people who want to do something about racism, and would like to develop a greater sense of direction and skill to accompany their efforts.
• People of color who want to support white people working against racism.
• People who have completed our Fundamentals, Part 1 workshop and/or the People's Institute Undoing Racism workshop (within the past 2 years) can enroll in our 200-level programs.

We schedule course sessions in a variety of locations in the greater New York metropolitan area. Locations thus far include Manhattan; Brooklyn; Westchester County, NY; Plainfield, NJ; and Albany, NY.
Course facilitators are approved by the Center for the Study of White American Culture. Each instructor has skills and experience in workshop facilitation and anti-racist organizing.
LENGTH & FORMAT
Our curent offerings take place on Saturdays. Each course runs for a single day beginning in the morning and ending in the mid-afternoon. Course lengths vary with between 4 to 6 hours of content. In the future we will explore additional days and times.
Content is presented through a variey of techniques, including large group discusson, small group discussions, Powerpoint presentations, role playing, drawing exercises, etc. The specific instructional techniques used will vary on a course by course basis.
Our course fees are in line with those offered for professional instruction. The actual rate depends upon the length of the course in hours. First time sessions of a course are offered at a reduced rate. All rates are subject to change. Scholarship help is available on a course by course basis. Inquiries should be directed to the contact person for each course. Students receive a student discount of 50%.
